Company history:
Unwired Webs is a trade name of Xwits Inc., and is part of the Xwits Group, a group of privately owned companies with a dedicated focus on mobile Internet. Europe is served by the Dutch based branch: Xwits b.v. The Canadian branch (Unwired Webs) serves North America.
Xwits was founded in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 1992. When the first signs of “the Mobile Internet Era” emerged in 1999, the company decided to dedicate its focus on Mobile Internet Application Development.
Looking back, we can conclude that although we were a bit early, the foundation has served us well and gave us a head start in wireless mobile website development.
Our first focus was on SMS messaging, we were the first to offer Reversed Billed SMS solutions in 1999. At that time, we also decided to develop our X-Builder platform, which culminated with the first introduction of i-mode outside of Japan in 2001. Thus, our platform turned out to be excellent vehicle to publish mobile sites. Besides taking advantage of our position as a leader, our clients also appreciated our superior technology, service, and attractive pricing.
In October 2001 Xwits opened its first office in North America, and in 2007, Xwits introduced a new trade name for North American: Unwired Webs.
Investor relations:
Unashamedly, the Xwits Group is sometimes referred to as one of the few ‘pearls’ left in the mobile market.
This is due to several factors: the highly skilled and very dedicated management that privately owns the Group, and the fact that the group has proved to be financially healthy and profitable with a valid business model in a promising market.
Somewhat unique, the Group is not financed with any form of external capital. We exist solely on solid work, not venture monies.
We boast an extraordinary in-house development team, which has created a proven technological platform for mobile publishing, and a very strong client portfolio. With offices on both the North American and European continents, we boast an extensive worldwide market presence. In 2005 Xwits was been recognized as one of the fastest-growing technology companies by the ‘Deloitte fast 50’.
